SENECA, Mo. — Kayleigh Savannah Teal, 16, of Seneca, Mo., and Pittsburg went to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Joplin from injuries sustained in the tornado.

Kayleigh was born March 22, 1995, in Bamburg, Germany, to Robert Eugene Teal and Karen Sue (Stanton) Long.

She attended Bluejacket and Welch schools early and was attending Seneca High School, where she loved mixed choir.

Kayleigh was employed as a waitress in the Joplin Pizza Hut and was of the Christian faith.

She is survived by her father, Robert Teal and his wife, Karen Louise, of Pittsburg; her mother, Karen Sue Long and stepfather, Shaun Higginbothan, of Seneca, Mo.; three brothers, Rowdy Teal of Pittsburg, Trey Saltsman of Seneca, Mo., and Jordan Ray Bicknell of Pittsburg; four sisters, Shandra Renee Bicknell, Brandi Sue Moore, both of Pittsburg, Tayler Higginbothan and Dakoata Higginbothan, both of Seneca, Mo.; paternal grandparents, William and Judy Fromm of Oklahoma City, Okla., Richard Teal of Bluejacket, Okla.; a maternal grandmother, Betty Stanton (Davis); and paternal great-grandmother, Margaret Ann Teal of Chetopa.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Miami, Okla., with Audy Tash officiating. Burial will follow in the G.A.R. Cemetery under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Kayleigh’s uncles will honor her by serving as pallbearers.
