Janice K. McCoy, 70, a lifelong Erie resident, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute after battling cancer since 2009.

She was born Feb. 11, 1941, at Erie a daughter of Silas and Fleeta (Hickman) McCrary. She lived her life in the house she was born and raised in. She worked cleaning houses and businesses around Erie.

In May 1962 she married Ward L. McCoy at Miami, Okla. They later divorced and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2006.

She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She also enjoyed home improvement projects, garage sales, collecting jewelry, working puzzles and bike riding. In past years she enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include three sons, Ward McCoy of Erie, Steve McCoy of Chanute and Mike McCoy and his wife, Marcia, of Galesburg; a daughter, Jennifer Harmon and her husband, Bill, of St. Paul; and two grandchildren, Sydney and Cassidy McCoy of Galesburg.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Skoloda; an infant daughter, Bobbie Jo Simons; and a son, Robert Simons.

Ms. McCoy will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home at Erie, where friends may call after 9 a.m.
