ERIE — Wayne Wilkins, 68, of Erie died at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin.

He was born on Dec. 23, 1942, at Roxton, Texas, to J.C and L.E. Wilkins. He grew up in the Roxton area and attended schools there.

He married Delores “Dee” Mattox on Nov. 18, 1977, at Miami, Okla. She survives of the home. He owned and operated Wilkins Construction for 35 years.

Other survivors include five sons, Ron Mattox of Olathe, Don Mattox of rural Erie, Travis Mattox of Olathe, Steve Mattox of St. Paul and Earl Wilkins Jr. of Bossier City, La.; two daughters, Susan Geier of Erie and Roxanne Bingham of Thayer; a brother, Norman Wilkins of Houston; and three sisters, Mary Lou Wilkins of Bossier City, La., and Shelia Lewis and Judy Deramus, both of Broken Bow, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Wilkins.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Erie. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie.
