He was born on Feb. 6, 1935, in Nashville, Ark., the oldest of three sons to Archie and Ila McLarty. He was preceded in death by both parents.
McLarty worked for Southern Pacific Railroad Co. in Houston for 43 years in the quality control group, both as a supervisor and an officer of the company.
He married Mary Louise Elzy on July 17, 1954. She survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Paul Edwin McLarty, Richard Mason McLarty and Steven Alan McLarty; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two brothers, Tommey Mason McLarty of Parsons and Carroll Lee McLarty of Ashdown, Ark.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rosewood Cemetery in Porter, Texas. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at West University Baptist Church in Houston.
The family suggests memorials to West University Baptist Church Mission Fund. Rosewood Funeral Home of Porter, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
