He was born on Sept. 27, 1920, in Kingman to Garrett Cross and Nellie (Dwyer) Cross.
Jim served in the Army Air Force and worked for the MKT Railroad for 43 years.
He was involved with sanctioned Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in Oswego for many years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Kepford Cross of the home; his children, Bob Cross of Chanute, Marie Mahoney of Overland Park, Richard McCord of Afton, Okla., Cheryel Cross of Grandview, Mo., and David McCord of Olathe. He leaves eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two siblings and four grandchildren.
A rosary for Jim will be prayed at 7 p.m. today at Mother of God Catholic Church, Oswego, and the memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mother of God Catholic Church, Oswego, with Father Larry Parker celebrating Mass. Murdock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will be at the Oswego Cemetery at a later date.
