Larry Joe Rowe, 71, of Parsons died at 9:43 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Labette Health. He had been in failing health.
He was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Parsons to James Eugene and Juanita Fay (Manners) Rowe. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons and was a 1957 graduate of Parsons High School.
He married Nancy L. Rhoades in 1957 in Miami, Okla. Following marriage, he entered the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked at Armco Steel in Houston. In 1967, the family returned to Parsons, where he had lived since. He worked most of his adult life as a carpenter.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Parsons. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Todd Rowe of the home in Parsons; two daughters, Terri Willis and Tina Hall, both of Parsons; three grandchildren, Crystal Reeves, Michael Olson and Jared Rowe; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Rowe, on Nov. 1, 2006; a son, Tim Rowe, on Feb. 7, 2005; and a brother.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at the family home immediately following the memorial service.
