TULSA — Laurence J. “Sonny” Sells Jr., 71, of Tulsa, formerly a longtime Parsons resident, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in Tulsa.
He was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Tullahassee, Okla.
Mr. Sells drove a truck for O’Brien Ready Mix at Parsons for 30 years before retiring.
Survivors include five daughters, Terrie Davis of Memphis, Tenn., Yolanda Berry of Tulsa, Christy Porter, Janice Green and Angela Porter, all of Parsons; a son, Laurence Porter III of Webb City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Doug Sells, Albert Sells, Willie Sells and Don Sells, all of Tulsa; and four sisters, Senora Tolbert, Helen Mitchell, Yvonne Marshall and Sandra Sells, all of Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings and a daughter.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in North Tulsa. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Jack’s Memory Chapel in Tulsa.
