Anna L. Ellis, 74, a longtime Parsons resident, died at 3:48 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, in the emergency room at Labette Health.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1936, at Parsons to Harmon W. and Carrie Caroline (Ball) Racy. She grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools.

She married Sam Ellis on June 28, 1954, at First Assembly of God Church in Parsons. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2010.

She worked at Joe’s Café for several years and was a homemaker. She loved caring for and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved her dogs and birds.

Survivors in include two daughters, Julia Gitchell of Sacramento, Calif., and Kathy Gitchell of Parsons; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Racy and his wife, Betty, of Parsons; and a sister, Addie Jane Gitchell of Sacramento, Calif.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice Care of Kansas and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
