ST. PAUL — Margaret M. Grillot, 84, of St. Paul died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
She was born March 1, 1927, in Parsons to James Patrick and Mary M. (O’Connor) O’Hara. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School.
Prior to marriage, she worked at Mercy Hospital in admissions. On May 27, 1951, she married Joseph Edward “Eddie” Grillot at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. Following marriage, the couple made their home in St. Paul, where she worked as bookkeeper in her husband’s business. He preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2005.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul and its Altar Society. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, playing cards, reading and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include five sons, Joseph “Joe” Grillot of Chanute, Dave Grillot and his wife, Carolyn, of Pittsburg, Jim Grillot and his wife, Deb, Randy Grillot and his wife, Nancy, all of Olathe, and Tom Grillot and his wife, Nancy, of St. Paul; three daughters, Peggy Wunderly and her husband, Don, of Fort Scott, Nancy Foster of Pomona and Becky Hays and her husband, Bruce, of Oswego; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, E.B. “Bud” O’Hara of Denver, Joe O’Hara and Chuck O’Hara, both of Topeka; and three sisters, Elaine Jefferson of Parsons, Betty Cunningham of Olathe and Jeanne Smith of St. Paul.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers; a sister; an infant daughter, Tammy Grillot; and a son, Bobby Grillot.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. The rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church, where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
