LEON — Edyth Mertie Banzet, 94, of Leon died Monday, April 4, 2011, in Leon.

She was born Nov. 5, 1916, in Larned to George and Mertie Newland.

She married Charles Edward Banzet on Jan. 31, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Banzet taught elementary school in Edna, South Mound and Galesburg.

Survivors include her sons, Charles “Lynn” Banzet of Orefield, Pa., and Alan Banzet of Leon; a granddaughter; three stepgrandsons; two stepgranddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Lake Creek Cemetery at Bartlett. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Dunsford Funeral Home and Crematory, Augusta, and from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Friday at the cemetery.
