CANEY — Jennie Mae Chastain, 96, of Caney died on Monday, March 14, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Independence.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1914, on a farm north of Havana to John Milton and Mary Dorothea (Randel) Hook.

On Jan. 16, 1932, she married Albert Nathan Chastain in Bartlesville, Okla. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Albert E. Chastain of Caney and the Rev. John E. Chastain of Parsons; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchildren.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Potts Chapel in Caney. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Potts Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday.
