She was born on Nov. 1, 1921, in Fowler to Anton B. and Frances K. Hageman Miller. She graduated from Fowler High School on May 16, 1940. She later attended beauty school in California.
She worked as a nanny and caretaker for a nurse.
She married Robert L. Bayer on Oct. 12, 1947, at Fort Ord, Calif. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1987.
Survivors include a son, Michael Joseph Bayer of Annapolis, Md.; a daughter, Jeannie Marie Bayer Boyer of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Robert M. Miller and Raymond F. Miller, both of Emporia; two sisters, Ida Kepley of Parsons and Delores Erikson of Elk City, Okla.; several grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jason R. Boyer and Edward D. Boyer.
The Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
