KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Gail B. Williams, 63, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Kansas City, Mo., on Friday, March 4, 2011.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1947, in Emporia to Robert “Bob” and Mary Williams. She was a graduate of Gridley High School with the class of 1965 in Gridley and also attended the Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.

She was a longtime employee of Wal-Mart in Parsons and Chanute.

Gail loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a very personable, gentle and kind lady who was loved and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and co-workers.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Williams of Independence; a brother, Russell Williams of Independence; a sister, Suzanne Birk of Bartlesville, Okla.; a son, Brett Hess of Parsons; a daughter, Kimberly Kieffer of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her father, Robert "Bob" Williams, preceded her in death.

A small private memorial service is planned for March 19. Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
