He was raised in Bovina, Texas, and lived in Parsons, Kan., and Deming, N.M. He was a farmer/rancher.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of 60 years; three children and spouses, Johnnie and Wendy Charles of Las Cruces, N.M., Ed and Lisa Lingenfelter of Arlington, Texas, and Walt and Renee Butler of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Ellen Estes of Bovina, Texas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington and Cutler) in Albuquerque. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday before service time.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 24 at First Methodist Church, Deming, N.M., with a gathering to follow in fellowship hall.
