OVERLAND PARK — Larry P. Raney, 68, of Overland Park died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 25, 1942, in Erie to Morris (Dutch) and Ruth Raney. He graduated from Erie High School, received a bachelor of science in business degree from The University of Kansas.

He was in public accounting for 14 years and then moved to the private sector.

He married Patricia on Sept. 1, 1963, in Lawrence. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Larry Curtis Raney of Olathe; a daughter, Pamela Rose Buford of San Diego; five grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Opela of Prague, Okla., and Linda Weidert of Erie; and two brothers, Rick Raney of Topeka and Randy Raney of Olathe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Valley View United Methodist Church, 8412 W. 95th St., Overland Park. There will be a family gathering at 9:30 a.m. and a visitation for friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Erie Federated Church, Erie. There will be a reception for friends and relatives at the church following the service .

Memorials are suggested to Erie Community Foundation or Valley View United Methodist Church.
