ARLINGTON, Texas -- Elmer "Willie" Williamson, 87, of Arlington, Texas, died on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1921, in Parsons to Lester and Myrtle Williamson. He graduated from Labette County Community High School and attended Parsons Junior College. He served in England and Europe during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War and he continued service with the U.S. Army in various assignments, including as sergeant major of the ROTC Unit at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. After military service, he was employed at the Internal Revenue Service at several posts of duty.

He married Evelyn Warren and they had one son. They divorced.

He later married Nellie Ruth Brigman in July 1958.

Survivors include a son, Roger Williamson and his wife, Rolena, of Englewood, Colo.; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Neely and her husband, Burle, of Coffeyville, and Darlene Misener and her husband, Roy, of Union, Mo.; and two brothers, Kenneth Williamson and his wife, Edna, of Coffeyville and Billy Williamson and his wife, Gayle, of Valley Center.

He was preceded in death by both wives; a brother, Lester "Al" Williamson and his wife, Jane; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Williamson.

The service with Masonic rites will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Moore-Bowen Road Chapel, 4216 S. Bowen Road in Arlington, Texas. Military burial will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

He will be truly missed here on Earth by friends and family. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
