Kent Riggs, 53, of Parsons died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at the home of his sister, Sheryl Werner, in Parsons.

He was born Sept. 15, 1955, in Parsons to Cecil E. and Theora (Timson) Riggs. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons and was a graduate of Parsons High School.

He was an employee of Dayton Superior in Parsons for 34 years, where he worked as a set-up man on semi-automatic snap-tie machines.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and gun collecting. He especially enjoyed visiting with his Internet buddies of 10 years and was known to all of his online acquaintances by his nickname, "Snap." In earlier years, he cherished driving in McCune demolition derbys and participating in dirt bike tournaments and proudly displayed his numerous trophies from each.

He was a member of Local Lodge No. 293 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Survivors include his father, Cecil Riggs of Parsons; a sister, Sheryl Werner of Parsons; a niece, Shannon Werner; two nephews, Steven Riggs and Andy Riggs; a great-niece, Daza "Peaches" Werner; and a great-nephew, Malik Werner.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Theora Riggs; a brother, Dennis Riggs; and brother-in-law, Kenny Werner.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Burial will be in McCune Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience this evening at the funeral home.
