She was born Nov. 12, 1932, in McCune to Glenn W. and Verda (Varyle) Jones. She grew up and attended schools in Southeast Kansas, graduating from Labette County Community High School in Altamont and earned an associate's degree from Parsons Junior College in 1960.
Her 36-year career with the state of Kansas began in 1960 by working at the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services in Topeka. In 1965, she moved to Chanute, where she worked at SRS; and in 1970, she began employment at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. In 1974, she returned to Topeka, where she once again worked at SRS; and in 1988, she moved to Wichita, where she worked at the Kansas Department of Human Resources, retiring in 1996.
She attended the Cornerstone Church in Wichita.
She married Elmo G. Dixon on Dec. 22, 1950, in Parsons. They later divorced.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Dixon of Oologah, Okla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale Jones of Parsons, Mirl Jones of Erie and Thomas Jones of Topeka; and a sister, Wanda Sue Graber of Silver Lake.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda J. (Dixon) Duncan, in 2002; three brothers, Glenn Jones Jr., David Jones and Charles Jones; and her twin sister, Wilma Callapp.
The service will be at 2 p.m. today at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
