LCC begins wrestling season with Takedown tourney
The Labette Community College wrestling team hosted the Takedown Tournament with Pratt on Saturday.
At 128 pounds, LCC earned the top three spots, as Josh Walker took first, Rhett Leach was second and AJ Navarrete was third.
At 136, Michael Williams of LCC was first, with Eric Hughes second. Pratt’s Skyler McComb took third.

Chetopa ends football season with blowout win
LONGTON— The Chetopa High School football team ended the season on a positive note with a 70-6 blowout victory over Elk Valley on Monday night. The game was called at the half, and there was a running clock the entire second quarter.

WAMEGO— Jenny O’Bryan looked nothing like a rookie.
A St. Paul freshman, O’Bryan tied for 10th place at the Class 1A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday morning at Wamego Country Club.

Grizzlies come up short vs. Titans
ALTAMONT — Columbus defeated Labette County 32-0 on Thursday in the final district contest of the high school football season.
With the loss, the season ended for the Grizzlies (3-6).
Columbus moves on and will play on Tuesday at Girard in a first round playoff game.

Neodesha holds Cherryvale to 200 yards of offense
CHERRYVALE — The Neodesha Bluestreaks held the Cherryvale Chargers to less than 200 yards of offense Friday night in a Class 3A District 7 high school football game.
Cherryvale fell to 1-2 in district play with the 39-8 loss.
