LCC basesball loses in sub-region play
The Labette Community College baseball team opened the 2012 NJCAA Region VI Super Regional with a 12-2 loss to Garden City Saturday. Labette then lost a 7-6 matchup with Barton in 11 innings to fall out of sub-regional play. The Cardinals finish the season at 22-27 with a 14-22 record within the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Eastern Division, good for seventh overall.

Vikings, Indians compete in Oz Wednesday
The Parsons and St. Paul high school swimming teams competed in the Osawatomie Invitational on Wednesday. Among the finishes, the Vikings effort in the 400 freestyle relay stood out thanks to a state-qualifying time of 4:18.20. The Parsons High School swimming team hosted St. Paul High School for a dual swimming event at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center pool Tuesday afternoon.
