The Labette Community College women’s basketball team moved to 4-7 this season with a split against two Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division teams over the weekend in the Barton County Tournament in Great Bend. The Labette Community College wrestling team continued a busy start to the season on Saturday when the Cardinals traveled to the Omaha Open in Omaha, Neb. The novelty of a hole-in-one is starting to become commonplace for one area golfer. Kermit Nelson hit his fourth career hole-in-one on Tuesday at the Katy Golf Course. Nelson hit the ace on the 170-yard Par 3 No. 6 hole. Nelson used a driver into a 35 mph wind to score the shot. Witnesses were Larry Williams, Bill Vance, Earl Hearson and Mel Perkins.

On Monday the Parsons Middle School Vikings had their first tournament of the 2010 wrestling season at Fredonia. The Vikings walked away placing seven out of 14 competitors. The Vikings were led by Kennan Dodd and Jumani Coleman, who both had first-place finishes. Rand Hurley, Dylan Misener, Anthony Morton, Jamel Nelson and Bryan Walker all earned second-place medals at the event.
