TOPEKA — The Labette Community College softball team’s stellar season came to an end on Monday. Highland defeated Labette 6-3 in the title game of the NJCAA Division II Region VI District E Softball Tournament at Hummer Sports Park. The Parsons vs. Labette County varsity baseball and softball games scheduled for Monday were postponed due to wet playing conditions in Altamont. The games will now be made up on Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m. at LCHS. The Vikings will host Independence today at 4:30 p.m. The Grizzlies are hosting Pittsburg today. Emilee Vance is the Most Valuable Player in the Jayhawk East. A Labette Community College sophomore third baseman, Vance leads a group of seven Lady Cardinals who have earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference softball honors. A Wellsville product, Vance is the Jayhawk East’s MVP and a first team selection at third base. Vance currently has a .450 batting average, with 67 hits in 44 games.
