Erie drops both games at Burlington
BURLINGTON — The Erie Lady Red Devils struggled on the road against undefeated Burlington on Friday night, losing 70-28 against the top-ranked team in 3A.
Bret McGuire totaled 11 points to lead Erie in scoring. She had two of the team’s three three-pointers and made three of four free throws. McGuire also led the team in rebounds with eight. Chrisana Maurer added nine points.
Erie, 8-6 on the season, will play Southeast at home on Tuesday.

St. Paul, Oswego split
ST. PAUL — The Oswego Indians edged out the St. Paul Indians on Friday night, 53-50.
St. Paul had a three-point advantage at 13-10 after the opening quarter, but Oswego scored 22 points in the second quarter, when the team made three of its four three-pointers. Oswego led 32-29 at halftime. St. Paul didn’t recover from Oswego’s big second quarter. Both teams scored 21 points in the second half.

Chargers win at home vs. Fredonia
CHERRYVALE — The Cherryvale Chargers battled back in the fourth quarter to force overtime with Fredonia on Friday night and then outscored the Yellowjackets by eight for the win.

COLONY — The Chetopa Green Hornets remained perfect in the Three Rivers League here Friday with a 62-55 road win against Crest.

FORT SCOTT — Labette County struggled on offense here Friday night and lost to Fort Scott 38-34.
The Labette County girls lost to the Lady Tigers 60-48.

Vikings drop wrestling duals

The Parsons Vikings are building for the future.
With numerous underclassmen in varsity spots, the Vikings gained more valuable experience on Thursday night.
But the team’s inexperience showed at times, as the Parsons High School wrestling team dropped two SEK League wrestling duals at Harold C. Johnson Gymnasium.

LCC athletes among league leaders

Several Labette Community College basketball players are among the league’s best when it comes to their specialties.
LCC point guard Eddie Williams is fourth among all Jayhawk Conference players (East and West) in assists per game. Williams is averaging 5.3 assists per game. Cloud’s Marcus Fillyaw is first in the league with 6.6 per game.

Cardinals fall short at Cowley
ARK CITY — Labette’s last-second desperation three-pointer was off the mark, and host Cowley College held on for a 61-58 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday night in men’s basketball action.

The quest for state-qualifying times continued on Wednesday for the Parsons High School boys swim team.
The Vikings hosted a dual meet with Coffeyville on Wednesday at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center pool.
And for a PHS relay team and one individual, state-qualifying times were secured.

Grizzlies move into second with win over Comets
ALTAMONT — An eight-footer by Labette County senior Dontae Johnson with nine seconds left proved to be enough for the Grizzlies to defeat the visiting Chanute Blue Comets here Tuesday night 49-48.
Chanute called a timeout after Johnson’s bucket. The Blue Comets had a chance for a last-second shot, but the ball didn’t fall and the Grizzlies grabbed the rebound and held on as time expired.

ST. PAUL — Brayden Beachner led the St. Paul Indians to a 71-53 victory over Pleasanton on their home floor Tuesday night.

ARMA — The Oswego Lady Indians jumped out to a big lead against Northeast of Arma on Tuesday night and never looked back.
