The Parsons High School girls swim team competed at Osawatomie on Wednesday. Sydney Markley finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a state consideration time of 28.86. Markley took second in the 100-yard free, swimming a high school personal best time of 1:05.11. Shannon Dunlay took third in the 200 free with a time of 2:21.92. The Labette County High School girls swim team took second place at the Coffeyville Invitational on Wednesday. Sydney Alloway took fifth in the 200 free and was fifth in the 100 breaststroke. Jana Diefenbach was sixth in the 100 breaststroke, and Tarryn Alloway finished sixth in the 100 freestyle. Sam Vratil came up big in the clutch, and the Vikings earned an exciting 15-14 walk-off victory over Columbus on Thursday in the season-opener at Winway Park.
