Chetopa girls finish NEO Tournament with a win
MIAMI, Okla. — Chetopa’s girls basketball team finished the NEO Tournament with a 49-41 win over Tyro Christian in the seventh place game of the Norse Division.
Jamie Jackson scored 16 points for the Hornets, who improved to 4-9 on the season with the victory.

Labette wins Kansas Cup

Labette Community College now has the bragging rights across the Sunflower State.
The LCC wrestling team won the Fourth Annual Kansas Cup on Sunday at Newman University in Wichita, topping all of the other schools in the state that have wrestling programs.
LCC was first in the team standings with a score of 119.5, while Fort Hays State and Baker tied for second with scores of 106.

Erie splits with Humboldt
HUMBOLDT— The Erie High School basketball teams split a varsity doubleheader with Humboldt on Friday.
Erie’s girls cruised to a 46-19 win over the Cubs.
Bret McGuire scored 18 points and Chrisana Maurer added 14 for Erie. Katie Brungardt had six, while Kailey Cleaver and Whitney Wolken added four apiece for the Red Devils (7-5). Cleaver had six steals and Maurer had six boards.

The boys lost by a point, 42-41, to Wyandotte, Okla., Thursday and defeated Commerce, Okla., 46-26 here Friday. Chetopa will play the winner of Welch, Okla., versus Afton, Okla.

Burlington teams get past Chargers
CHERRYVALE — The Cherryvale Chargers struggled to score on Friday night, losing to Burlington 59-25.
Cherryvale kept up with Burlington on the boards, getting outrebounded by just 27-24, but the Chargers made only 23 percent of their shots from the field and 52 percent from the free throw line.

ARMA — St. Paul High School teams swept Northeast here Friday night.
The St. Paul boys won 61-35. The St. Paul girls won 53-19.

OSWEGO — The Oswego High School boys basketball team defeated Altoona-Midway here Friday night 60-25.
Oswego swarmed to an early lead in the first quarter and built a comfortable 38-7 lead by halftime. Altoona scored nearly half of its points in the third quarter (12 points) but never threatened.

COFFEYVILLE — Nationally-ranked Coffeyville withstood every Labette run and pulled away late in a 73-62 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday night at Nellis Hall in a showdown of league leaders.
The seventh-ranked Red Ravens not only withstood every big shot LCC’s men hit — they responded back each time with one of their own.
