LCHS girls destroy Columbus
ALTAMONT — The Labette County girls basketball team won by 30 points on Monday night to set up a 4A substate game with Parsons on Thursday.
Labette County took a 13-9 lead over Columbus into the second quarter, when the Lady Grizzlies allowed just two points for a 25-11 halftime lead. The Lady Titans scored only 10 points in the second half, and Labette County cruised to a 51-21 victory.

Oswego girls advance
OSWEGO — The Oswego High School Lady Indians handily defeated Marmaton Valley of Moran here Monday night 61-24.
"The girls came out pretty strong to start the game," Oswego girls coach Neal Cruse said. Their level of play and unselfishness set the tone for the game, he said.
The Oswego girls were leading 18-3 after a quarter and 31-9 at the half. Moran's biggest quarter was the third, when it scored 13 points.

CANEY — The Erie Red Devils' basketball season ended on Monday night with a 52-41 loss to Caney Valley in a 3A substate tournament.
"The kids played hard tonight but just could not come out on top at the end of the night. I'm very proud of the kids and their work this year," Erie coach Caleb Reimer said.

LCC splits with Crowder Saturday
The Labette Community College baseball team suffered their first loss of the year over the weekend but still earned a split in a doubleheader with Crowder.
LCC traveled to Neosho, Mo. for two games with Crowder and opened with a 3-0 victory.

Murdock goes 1-2 at state tourney
Thatcher Murdock of Parsons High School finished the Class 4A state wrestling tourney at 1-2 over the weekend.
Murdock, a 132-pound senior, advanced to the second day by opening with a 5-3 win over Slade Sare of Abilene.
Murdock lost his second match to Kyle Macy of El Dorado by 4-0 decision Friday and lost his opening-round match Saturday with Jacob Durosette of Fort Scott 3-2.

The Labette Community College wrestling team returned to Rochester, Minn., the site of their first NJCAA title, and earned another Saturday.
LCC gathered 161.5 points to take down No. 1-ranked Iowa Central Community College, who scored 145 points in the two-day tourney.

The Cavaliers nearly made the lead disappear, but the Cardinals did enough to keep it.
The Labette Community College men's basketball team improved to 18-10 overall and 8-8 within the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Eastern Division with a 68-66 victory at Johnson on Saturday.

Labette County High School senior Spencer Gatewood completed the Class 4A wrestling tourney in Salina with a fifth-place finish Saturday.

The Labette Community College wrestling team scored 161.5 points to dominate the field at the NJCAA National Wrestling Tourney in Rochester, Minn. over the weekend.

Grizzlies upset Tigers
FORT SCOTT — The Labette County High School boys defeated Fort Scott on their home floor here Thursday night, knocking the Tigers out of race for the SEK League crown. The Grizzlies won 60-55.
Three Grizzlies were in double figures and held most of Fort Scott's offense to a single player, who scored nearly half of the Tigers' points.

ST. PAUL — The St. Paul Indians started off their final regular season game of the year off right, but a Crest of Colony 20-point second quarter led to a home loss for St. Paul on Friday night.
