Oswego inmates file suits
Eight inmates in the El Dorado Correctional Facility, Southeast Unit, in Oswego are seeking court intervention in their causes.
The eight inmates at the prison in Oswego have filed 10 lawsuits in Labette County District Court since January. Most of the suits were filed in other counties where the inmates were housed and the inmates transferred the cases to Parsons after moving to Oswego this year.

Erie alters contract with city of Chanute
ERIE — The Erie City Council made a slight change in an agreement with the city of Chanute.

One-vehicle wreck injures man
A former Labette County man was injured in an accident early Monday east of Altamont.

Officials respond to body in pond
EDNA — The Labette County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday morning recovered the body of a 36-year-old Edna woman from a pond next to the Edna City Lake, 830 3000 Road.
The death is under investigation, but Labette County Sheriff Robert Sims said there are no signs of foul play so far.
The call came at 9:49 a.m. Tuesday about a body in the water. The pond is on the south side of the lake, just beyond the lake levee.

Man faces three burglary charges
A Cherryvale man, caught early Sunday breaking into a pickup, has been charged with three vehicle burglaries from Sunday.
Dustin R. Lindal, born in 1994, is charged in Labette County District Court with three counts of vehicle burglary, all level nine felonies. He’s also charged with three counts of theft and one count of criminal damage, all misdemeanors.
