Posch, who led the PHS boys' and girls' teams to a Southeast Kansas League title this year, was named the Class 4A boys' tennis Coach of the Year Saturday. The PHS tennis boys won the SEK title and finished third in the state in Class 4A in 2012.

The PHS and Parsons Middle School team host a tennis clinic throughout the month of June every year in Parsons. This year, around 65 aspiring tennis players of various ages are participating in the clinic, which Parsons coaches and players assist with.

The three, along with other volunteers, were making the wheat shocks to be threshed during this year’s Farm Heritage Celebration Oct. 5-6 at Tolen Creek Park. Volunteers also plan a June 30 event to harvest the rest of the wheat at the field at the park as well as bale hay with an old-fashioned hay press and work on a rock fence. The public is welcome to observe and possibly help with the work.
