Galesburg Christian Church High School Youth Group members Trent Harvey, Drew Kane, Shyanne Dunn, and Carlee Knute continue work in preparation for the opening of "The Orange Swan Free Store, a free/thrift store the youths are opening in a garage northwest of the church. The store is to help provide clothing, shoes, and household at no cost or a cost of 50 cents, to help those in need. The grand opening of the store, located at 205 Chestnut Street, in Galesburg, is this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Following businesses requesting all clothing bins Planet Aid being remove all clothing bins from Parsons, donations are picking up again at the used clothing store, which uses all profits to assist various non-profit organizations for the needy throughout Labette County.

Crew men of Union Pacific Railroad's stem locomotive No. 844 say goodbye to Lincoln School children as they prepare to board the train in the U.P. railyard in Parsons. The engine made a brief stop on its way to another stop in Vinita, Okla. No. 844 was the last steam locomotive built for the U.P. It was delivered in 1944. A high-speed passenger engine, it pulled such widely known trains as the Overland Limited, Los Angeles Limited, Portland Rose and Challenger. Hailed as the "Living Legend," the engine is widely known among railroad enthusiasts for its excursion runs.
