Parsons High School senior Sierra Kemp blocks a shot attempt from Girard junior Hadyn Herlocker Saturday evening in Coffeyville. The Vikes had trouble stopping Herlocker Saturday. She scored 29 points and led the Trojans to a 70-66 victory over the Lady Vikings, who trailed 40-29 at the half before pulling into a tie through three quarters. The Lady Vikings finish the season at 17-6 overall and were the Southeast Kansas League champions this season.

The Parsons boy's basketball team fell to Coffeyville 63-45 in the substate championship game. The one-seeded Vikes fall to 20-3 on the year with the loss and finish the season a game away from a return to the state tournament. Parsons trailed 19-17 after a quarter of play but shot 0-13 in the second and Coffeyville led 31-20 at the break on the way to the double-digit win.

The Vikings drained a season-high nine 3-pointer baskets and used their shooting touch to pull past LCHS 76-63 Friday evening in Coffeyville in the Class 4A substate being held there. The Vikings will take on host Coffeyville in the finals this evening. The game will begin after the girl's final which features Parsons and Girard and is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip.
