The two work for ADS Environmental Services, a Huntsville, Ala.-based company, out of its St. Louis office. The city of Parsons contracted ADS to inspect each manhole in the city as part of an Environmental Protection Agency compliance order. The inspections will help the city determine what sewer lines need to be replaced or relined. The two ADS employees said they began work here on Tuesday and expect the work to take about six months. City staff estimated there are 1,250 manholes in Parsons. The city will pay ADS $67 per manhole.

Labette County High School building trades students worked Tuesday to build a wheelchair ramp for fellow student Jason Beach, who is returning home today after being seriously injured in a vehicle accident Jan. 15. Beach has been undergoing treatment and rehabilitation the last two months for the injuries he sustained.
