Labette County GOP Chairman Mike Howerter opened the 2012 GOP Presidential Caucus for Southeast Kansas Saturday morning at Parsons Municipal Auditorium. Hundreds of Republicans from five counties participated. One of three computer stations checking in Labette County voters had tallied more than 100 people well before the 1 p.m. deadline.

The LCC women's basketball team faced a 42-28 deficit Wednesday at home in a win-and-go-home game against the Lady Cougars. However, LCC closed the second half on a 27-13 to force overtime and eventually won 69-63 while there. LCC will take on unbeaten Hutchinson in the quarterfinals of the Region VI NJCAAA tourney Saturday in Wichita.

Performers scheduled for next season’s series include country music singer Collin Raye and Masters of Motown, who present a show that celebrates the artists who came out of Detroit.
