ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed bids for STREET REPAIRS, PROJECT 2012-12 will be received by the City of Parsons, Kansas, at the Office of the City Clerk on November 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., local time and opened and read aloud. Bids received after said time will be returned unopened. A MANDATORY WALK-THROUGH will be held November 15, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. commencing at Municipal Building, Engineering Dept., 112 S. 17th St. Parsons, Kansas. The bids will be reviewed by the City Commission and recommendation for award will be made at the City Commission Meeting on Monday, December 3, 2012. The City Commission Meeting will be held in the City Commission Room, Municipal Building, 112 South 17th St., at 6:00 p.m., local time. Bids should be marked on the outside of the envelope, STREET REPAIRS, PROJECT 2012-12.
PARTICULAR ATTENTION IS CALLED TO THE FOLLOWING: ORDINANCE NO. 5040 PASSED BY THE PARSONS CITY COMMISSIONERS, MAY 25, 1977, ORDINANCE NO. 5067 PASSED SEPTEMBER 19, 1977, AND ORDINANCE NO. 5089 PASSED MARCH 8, 1978, PROHIBITS DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES IN EMPLOYMENT IN PUBLIC WORK AND PROVIDES FOR AN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PROGRAM TO FURTHER EMPLOYMENT OF MINORITY GROUPS IN CITY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS, AND THE POLICY STATEMENT OF THE CITY OF PARSONS CONCERNING AFFIRMATIVE ACTION.

Please accept this signed statement as our commitment to abide by the requirements of said Ordinances, and to submit an acceptable Affirmative Action Program toward employment opportunity for Minority Groups, in the event that we are the successful bidder, before award of the contract.
Copies of the plans, specifications and other contract documents are on file in the Engineering Department, Parsons, Kansas, and are available for public inspection. A set of such documents may be obtained by contacting the Engineering Office, Municipal Building, 112 S. 17th St., Second Floor, Parsons, Kansas, 620-421-7020.
The character and amount of security to be furnished by each bidder is stated in the above mentioned contract documents. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the City of Parsons. THE CITY OF PARSONS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY AND ALL BIDS.
