Education Advocate Training
Nearly 800 children in SRS or JJA custody are in need of someone to represent them in special education matters. This free training is for birth parents, resource parents, SRS contracted agency workers, and volunteers. Current education advocates would also benefit from this training as the reauthorized law will be presented. Proof of attendance and 5.5 hours of continuing education credit is available for case managers and resource parents. This training is provided by Families Together, Inc through a contract with the Kansas State Department of Education (Individuals, including resource parents, that are employed by a school district or cooperative may not serve as an education advocate in that district. SRS workers are not eligible to serve.)
