EDNA — Marvin D. “Ratz” Riley, 79, of Edna died at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at his home. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected.

He was born on July 19, 1939, in Craig County, Oklahoma, to Ernest and Hattie (Hubbard) Riley. He attended Ideal Elementary School in Craig County before moving with his family to Edna. He graduated from Edna High School in 1958.

Mr. Riley worked for a number of farmers in the Edna area throughout his life. He later worked at Sherwin-Williams in Coffeyville. 

He enjoyed coyote hunting, gardening and doing yard work. He also played softball and bowled in Coffeyville leagues for many years. Marvin was a part of the Woodshed coffee club. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family and friends.

On June 10, 1961, he married Louise Henry in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Melvin Riley and his wife, Sharon, of Galesburg, Darrell Riley and his wife, Andrea, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, and Craig Riley and his wife, Connie, of Edna; two daughters, Brenda Carnes and her husband, Mike, and Shelly Warren and her husband, Wayne, all of Coffeyville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Archie Riley and his wife, Mary, of Edna; and a sister-in-law, Sue Riley of Wichita.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Riley; and a sister, Norma Duvall.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edna United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Edna Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church in Edna.
