COFFEYVILLE — Steven M. Walker, 72, of Coffeyville left this earthly home unexpectedly at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center on Friday, June 21, 2019.

Steven was born on Jan. 19, 1947, to Estel and Wanda (Roller) Walker in South Gate, California. His family moved back to Coffeyville and Parsons area. He spent the majority of his lifetime in the Coffeyville area, attending Coffeyville schools and completing his education at Field Kindley Memorial High School.

On Feb. 16, 1966, he was inducted into the Army, serving until his honorable discharge on Jan. 29, 1968. He then completed his term through the reserves on Feb. 15, 1972. He loved everything about America and had great pride in serving his county. He was red, white and blue through and through.

Upon returning from military service, Steven met Laura McCartney and soon after they were married in her parents’ home. They made their home in Coffeyville area for 51 years. Together they enjoyed going to auctions and refreshing their booths at area flea markets. Most of all they shared a love for their daughter, Stacy, and her children.

Steven enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering with things, especially tools. He would find diamonds in the rough at auctions, take them home, apply some elbow grease and clean those tools up to look almost brand new, allowing someone else to put them to use. His hobbies allowed him to have personal interaction with people and form lasting friendships with those he met at auctions, flea markets, or through swapping fishing stories while casting a line.

Steven was a Red Ravens fan and enjoyed keeping up with their standings in multiple sports. He also enjoyed sitting down to a good meal with his family and friends.

While Steven enjoyed his hobbies and friends, nothing compared to the love he had for his wife, Laura, daughter, Stacy, or his grandsons, Dakotah, Casey or Cody.  He was always supportive and by their side cheering them on in anything they participated in. His family was everything to him.

Steven is survived by his loving wife, Laura, of the home; his daughter, Stacy Isle; and grandchildren, Dakotah Walker and his fiancé, Amy Matney, Casey Isle, Cody Isle and his wife, Julia; and a sister, Becky, and her husband, Gary Fulkerson. All survivors are heavy hearted for the loss of a great man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estel and Wanda; and a granddaughter, Alishia.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

Memorials are suggested to either the American Heart Association or Coffeyville Flags of Honor, and these may be left in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.

Online condolences may be left at www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com.
