James and Janie Schibi of Parsons will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family celebration hosted by their children.

James E. Schibi and Janie M. Raymond were married May 18, 1957, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons by the Revs. Joseph Brown and Vincent Brown. The couple lived in Parsons for nearly all of their married life.

Mr. Schibi is a retired service technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., having worked there 34 years. Mrs. Schibi worked for Southwestern Bell for 10 years and has worked at ParCom in Parsons for 34 years.

The Schibis are members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

They have 10 children, Anne (Jack) Purtle, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, David (Cathy) Schibi, Vincent (Mary) Schibi, Raymond (Brenda) Schibi, Patrick (Brooke) Schibi, all of Parsons, Margaret (Kevin) Doherty, Jennifer (Don) Hutcherson, all of St. Paul, Carol (Troy) Swartz of Lexington, Missouri, Cheryl (Greg) Strathe of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Joe (Sherry) Schibi of Columbus; 39 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family celebration was to be today (Saturday) at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, hosted by the couple’s children.
